Graduating from the University of Miami’s School of Medicine, Dr. Tim Ioannides performed his residency there as well as at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Armed with a degree in dermatology, he went to work at a Southern Florida practice that made most of its money from cosmetic procedures. Tim Ioannides appreciated helping people look and feel better, but it wasn’t what he envisioned his career being like.
Dr. Ioannides wanted to educate patients about proper skin safety practices. He also wanted to treat serious medical conditions including eczema and skin cancer. Dr. Tim Ioannides became an entrepreneur in 2004 when he founded Treasure Coast Dermatology.
Initially doing some cosmetic procedures out of necessity, he is now wholly dedicated to being a medical dermatologist. His business is a multi-location dermatology practice with offices in Port St. Lucie, Indian River, and Martin Counties.
Ioannides was realistic when starting his practice. He supplemented his billable services with cosmetic surgeries his patients paid for themselves. This got him through the initial stages of owning a practice. Following his business plan, Dr. Tim Ioannides was able to drop cosmetic procedures while still being profitable. He put together a strong support team at Treasure Coast Dermatology and a strong focus on customer service helped lead to loyalty from his patients.

When asked if he doubted things would work out when he started his practice, Dr. Tim Ioannides said that wasn’t the case. Like any other highly skilled person in the medical field, he went through a lot while actively pursuing his medical degree. He knew he wanted to be a medical dermatologist and that he was skilled at it. He admits, though, that he did have some fears about starting his practice. Whenever he had doubts, he reminded himself why he had chosen to go into business for himself.
