Securus Technologies Secures Everyone’s Loved Ones

There was a time when the philosophy of world change belonged only to non-profit organizations. During that time, it was the non-profit they looked for ways to eradicate evil. However, with the rise of social entrepreneurship, the corporate world is now jumping on board with the notion that they too can impact the world for the greater good.

Securus Technologies is a social entrepreneurship that made it their goal to aid correctional facilities by reducing inmate on inmate crime which statistics show is the leading cause of death among inmates.

Securus Technologies was born in 1986 in Dallas, Texas. As their business expanded, they would set up regional offices in Carrollton, Texas, and Atlanta, Georgia which gave them coast to coast influence.

Securus Technologies knew that to reduce inmate on inmate crime, they would have to deal with the problem of contraband cell phones. Inmates in correctional facilities use these contraband cell phones to organize and plan attacks through text messaging and social media. If Securus Technologies wanted to see a decrease in inmate on inmate crime, they would have to eliminate this vital tool.

Securus Technologies dealt with the contraband cell phone issue in several ways. The created an effective product that they called “Cell Defenders.” This product allowed customers to monitor and detect any contraband cell phones in the facility and triangulate their location. Customers have said the interface is very intuitive and easy to use.

Securus Technologies would also create a product that allowed them to hack into contraband cell phones and monitor the calls in real time. In addition to this, they could scan the phone to see recent messages sent and even delete them.

The last product Securus Technologies would release was “Wireless Containment Solutions” which stopped inmates from using social media to plan attacks.

  1. What the technology confers on the society is security and that is a very good approach and I think that the brains behind this technology deserves commendation. Perhaps we can use to improve on what we have got already and I believe that on a long run we are going to be experiencing a much more safety correctional systems in the country.
