Opposing Human Trafficking, Slavery, and Oppression with Thor Halvorssen
Some human right activist preaches water and drinks wine. This is not the case for Thor Halvorssen. He is a man of actions when it comes to human rights. Thor Halvorssen is known as the founder of Human Rights Foundation that is headquartered in New York. He is also the man behind the Oslo Freedom Forum. When he is not involved in issues related to human rights, he acts as a film producer. Presently, he is involved with the adaptation of a film called the moon is a harsh mistress, and he is co-producing the film with a guy called Bryan Singer. Thor Halvorssen is the founder of On Own Feet, a child peace movement based in the Czech Republic. Also, he is the person behind the Moving Picture Institute.
Thor Halvorssen was born to a Venezuelan mother and a Norwegian father. His two parents descended from a line of loyalty as his mother came from the line of the first president of Venezuela. On the other hand, his father came from a line of Norwegian kings. Thor has a love for humanity and has also said that he has special love for the people who defy dictatorship and oppression.
Thor Halvorssen himself has experienced the brutality that comes along the opposition. After unveiling corruption within the Venezuelan government, his father was detained and tortured while his mom was killed in protests. His first cousin is still in jail while Thor himself was forced into exile.
He has appeared on television and print media to express his opinions. On television, he appeared on several channels such as the BBC, Fox News, HBO, as well as CNN and Al-Jazeera.
The matters that he holds dear to his heart include those touching human trafficking, democracy threats as well as slavery. Thor is also a lecturer on the same issue. He has taught the subject in several institutions such as the Harvard Law School, American Enterprise Institute, and the New York City Junto.
